Endurance Saddles
This is a special saddle of either English or Western design used in the competitive sport of Endurance Riding. Light weight and comfort are the two main characteristics. Novice endurance riders generally start with and Endurance saddle of Western influence, moving on to the lighter weight English style as skill and experience improve.
Since Endurance riding involves many hours of riding, it is important that the saddle be as light as possible to ensure the horse doesn't have to carry any more weight than he has to. Some endurance saddles have wider panels and stirrups with a wider tread. Many endurance saddles have extra metal rings for the attachment of equipment. And as with anything involving competition, various experimental designs are also common, including treeless and flexible panel saddles.
